New Year Interior Resolutions

I couldn't wait for the new year to start. I'm not saying it is going to be my year, because it's my life therefore all years are my years, but I am definitely excited about it. In less then one week I am going back to the Netherlands where I left the apartment a bit messy when I was preparing my luggage to leave. I don't plan only to tidy up but in the first two months of the year when it is grey and cold outside (not that it's different any other time of the year, we are talking about Holland...) I am going to cheat on fashion with furniture, as Carrie Bradshaw used to say. Here are my interior resolutions/plans for 2013:

1. Restyling the bedroom

Our bedroom is totally random. There were no conscious choices when we furnished it. I want to change this. I came up with a "Sophisticated Nature"  theme (idea from H&M Home) to the bedroom which fits to the main colors: grey, brown and off-white. I will spice it up with animal printed textiles and natural materials. Here's the most inspirational picture I've found:

2. Decorating the living room with art

Our living room is the one with most thoughts put into it. The synthetic leather couch has cream color with a dark brown fluffy carpet in front and brown and cream pillows on the couch. However I want to put art on the of-yellow walls. Inspiration:

3. Candles

Before I was not fan of candles but I have been a sucker for them for a few weeks now. They will go everywhere.

4. Vanity table

My biggest investment will probably be a vanity table which has been my secret dream for so long. I can't wait to have one because it'll be the only piece of furniture in the whole apartment that is only mine. I don't have to share with the boyfriend and I can style it according to my own taste without asking his opinion.

Since I am back from the Netherlands for a short winter break with my family and old friends I have been making up to-do lists and travel destinations for 2013 in my head. This is the first Christmas period when I'm actually less excited about Christmas with all its true blessings (seeing everyone from the family, eating home-cooked delicious food, meeting up with my grandparents, cousins and best friends, giving and getting presents) than about the new year to come. 2012 was a really good year for me: I came through many difficulties and conquered many distances I have never dreamed of. Now that it is ending I couldn't be more excited about 2013. Experts expect it to be a tough year economically and financially but I don't have any fear. I am sure that I can solve everything alone or with the help of some great people around me.

However, first things first, tomorrow is Christmas Eve that is the most important part of Christmas in my family. Since my family's religion is Catholic I would say Merry Christmas to all of you but I prefer to wish all the bests for the rest of this year whether you celebrate or not.

My Fav Winter Basics || Téli alapdarabok

During wintertime people tend to dress up in dark colors. Many are against this trend, but I personally don't have any problem with monochrome colors. The Polyvore clipboard above shows my favorite winter basic pieces such as flat ankle booties, a black turtleneck sweater, a warm, knitted, grey cardigan and hat. The leopard socks and leather leggings may not seem as a basic piece at first glance, but they are essential for creating characteristic outfits.

Télen nem csak a koraesték sötétülnek be, de a ruhatárak is. Bár sokan nem támogatják a borús öltözködést, nekem személy szerint semmi bajom a sötét színekkel, sőt nyáron is előnyben részesítem a monkróm színeket. A fentebb látható Polyvore clipboard a ruhatáram téli alapdarabjait mutatja, amelyek feltétlen szükségesek ahhoz, hogy stílusos és kényelmes összeállításokat hozzak össze. Az összes darab többféleképpen hordható, be lehet építeni elegáns, de hétköznapi szettekbe is. A leopárd zokni és a műbőr leggings elsőre talán nem tűnik annyira alapdarabnak, de számomra ezek képzik egy öltözék lelkét.

We all know someone who loves luxury and cannot be surprised simply with a book on Christmas day. However, luxury is costly. If you have a friend who loves designer clothes and lifestyle, you may consider to give them a little piece of luxury for Christmas. Perfumes have been a long time designer gift favourite but think about a nail polish from Chanel, lipstick from Dior or a iPhone cover from Marc Jacobs. Even if you think they are a bit high priced for what they are (40 bucks for a nail polish?),  it makes a perfect gift for your luxury lover friend for a relatively low price.


Mindannyiunknak van egy olyan barátja vagy barátnője, aki imádja a luxust és nem lehet elvarázsolni csupán egy könnyvel karácsonykor. Igen ám, de a luxusért sokat kell fizetni, és kinek van több tízezer forintja csupán egy karácsonyi ajándékra? (Akinek igen, azok számára mindig elérhető vagyok e-mailen keresztül ;) Itt egy ötlet: ajándékozz egy aprócska luxust nekik egy Chanel körömlakk, Dior rúzs vagy egy Marc Jacobs iPhone tok személyében.Bár első látásra igen drágának tűnnek valódi értékükhöz képest (8000 forint egy körömlakkért??), luxusimádó barátod imádni fogja.
