Tuesday Picks

Tuesday Picks 12-02-2013

1. This week's starlet is who else than... Oh, c'mon now, I'm sure you know it, at least guess: she has a phone in her hands. That's right, it's our favorite girl to hate, Queen Bee, alias Leighton Meester. Even though the actress doesn't dress the same way like her character, Leighton is still way too adorable. Her outfit on this picture is so simple, but she rocks it, doesn't she? Well, the main reason is her perfect body, therefore she can rock basically anything. Oh, B. I love you. Always did, always will.

2. This week's quote. I mean, the quote of my life.  Nincs olyan leopárd minta, ami ne tetszene. A hét idézete.

3. Last week one of my favorite lifestyle blogs, The Simply Luxurious Lifestyle posted an article about the importance of education. Most probably you heard it enough, but you study only for your own sake. Knowledge is something to nurture, education is really something to praise. Malala Yousafzai, a breathtakingly young and brave Pakistani girl has been shot because she agrees with the sentence above. She was born to a culture where girls are simply not good enough to receive education. She cannot take granted what we in the Western part of the world see as a basic human right. You may think high school is a waste of time, your major was a wrong choice or learning languages is just a weight around your neck and I am sure that Malala's tragical story won't change your opinion but it is never too late to start to appreciate the huge amount of information that is available for you. Read the news. Seek the answer. Ask questions. Be open-minded. Hear out the opinion of people you do not agree with. Show an open attitude toward the topics you rejected before. Be up-to-date. Be critical. You may have passed the exam that had given you misery in the past few weeks or months but it doesn't mean the learning process is over. Invest in your education. Invest time, invest money, and later you will harvest.

4. White nail polish. Now that I am bored with dark red and navy blue I am thinking on investing in white nail polish. It's important to get the best possible quality, otherwise you will need 10 layers to avoid transparency and get a matte white color. Perfect choice for February: taking inspiration from the melting snow and white spring flowers, white makes a nice transit between the two seasons.

5. Goji berries. Have you heard of these little health bombs? Goji berries are traditional part of Eastern medication and said to treat many common health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, aging and so on. It has been categorized as a super food. The most common form is the dried version. It basically looks like dried cranberries and tastes similar. Well, a bit worse. The good news is, one handful a day is more than enough and you are good to go.  Hallottál már a goji bogyóról, más néven a farkasbogyóról? Ez a kis piros gyümölcs, ami leginkább az áfonyához hasonlít mind színben, mind ízben (na jó, ízben jelentősen rosszabb) tömérdek vitamint és ásványi anyagot tartalmaz. Számos gyógyhatásáról suttognak a rajongói, amelyek tudományosan még nincsenek egyértelműen alátámasztva, de az utóbbi időben a goji bogyóra irányuló fokozott figyelemnek köszönhetően minden bizonyára előbb-utóbb arra is sort fognak keríteni a tudósok. Több itt!

6. Colors of the week. I chose 3 colors for this week: first is burgundy, since the winter season is almost over so get those burgundy pieces out of your closet one more time before you shove them into the bottom of your wardrobe. The second color meant to be a light denim blue that already resembles spring. And my third color choice is emerald green, as a potential colour hit of SS13.  A hét színei: Burgundy vörös (bordó), világos farmer kék, smaragdzöld.
